Clifton, NJ: Louis R. Vita, D.D.S., has been appointed as Attending Dentist and Section Chief for Hackensack University Medical Center's Department of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders.
Dr. Vita has had a general dental practice in this city for more than 25 years and is the founder and director of the Vita Head Neck & Facial Pain Relief Center. He is a leading authority on disorders affecting the TMJ, which is the joint on each side of a person's face connecting the lower jaw to the head. Such disorders can be caused by injuries from sports, accidents, and other health conditions. These may result in patients experiencing headaches, facial muscle pains, earache, clicking in the TMJ, or poor sleep quality.
A graduate of the Georgetown University Dental School in Washington, D.C., Dr. Vita's dental practice is located at 991 Van Houten Avenue in Clifton. For the past decade, he has also directed the Vita Head Neck & Facial Pain Relief Center, which focuses on jaw malalignments from TMJ and related matters that can affect patients' health. Dr. Vita regularly conducts training programs about TMJ issues for dentists, dental hygienists and physicians in northern New Jersey and other regions of the U.S.
